New England Summer

I had not been home to the U.S.A. since December 2008....18 months earlier. Furthermore, I had not been to Vermont since I left in August 2008. The three and a half weeks that I had in the states (which at first seemed like such a long time) turned into a whirlwind and the time disappeared before I could blink. Here are some photos from my various east coast adventures.

My time began at the cabin in Townshend, Vermont with Dad. We took a hike at Townshend State Park up to Bald Mountain...a hike we figured I had done for the first time around the age of 5 and would continue to do at various times down the road during Vermont camping trips.

Dad and I came across two trees that had grown together. A good photo op.

Steak Dinner at the cabin

And jet lag caused me to wake up exceptionally early....I caught the sun rising around 5:30 a.m. from the cabin.

I browsed through the attic in the barn and came across a few interesting items:

And a personalized front license plate with my name!

Not quite a Volvo, but still a sweet ride

Leysin Does Vermont

Four friends from Leysin, Jamie, Howie, Addie and Andrew came to Burlington to visit for a few days. Addie even spent 12 hours on a train to get there from Washington D.C. Jamie and Howie ventured in courtesy of the jeep from Ottawa and Andrew came down from Maine.

Here is Andrew and Jamie relaxing in Caitlin's backyard in Hinesburg, Vermont.

Tara and Sharkey's Wedding

Tara and Sharkey were married on Church Island on Squam Lake in New Hampshire on July 31st. All guests had to take boats to get to the ceremony.

These are some photos from the rehearsal dinner.

Post wedding I spent a few days in New Hampshire with the newly weds and their family. They rented a house on Squam Lake.

I stayed in the tent next to the house

We had good times at the house....

THE CABIN

After my time in New Hampshire, I ventured back to the cabin. Here I am with Dad and George before our 40 mile ride to Saxtons River from the Townshend Dam

Dad bought a Swiss flag (for me) and a Nebraska flag (for Kelly) to hang at the cabin

Connecticut

I went to Connecticut for an afternoon, a place I had not been in over three years. Visited the old crew from Coventry and ate a delicious meal at Shady Glen.

Mount Mansfield, Vermont Hike

I took a hike with Caitlin in the morning of one of my last days in Vermont. Here are photos from the summit of Mansfield (the highest peak in Vermont) at 4393 feet. Vaida, Caitlin's dog is also featured.
