On July 3rd, I departed Leysin around 5a.m. with some friends and arrived in Champery around 6a.m. to begin the hike up to the Dents Du Midi...the highest point in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. It's also the mountain that I gazed at so many times from my balcony in Leysin for the past three years. I had hiked it once, but was unable to summit due to bad weather. Fortunately, we chose the right day. It was a blue bird day, great temperatures and the view at the top was epic....
I also started a search for wildflowers along the way....they will be featured in many photos along the way. These particular flowers were growing at an altitude upwards of 10,000 feet.
A clear view of the magnificent Mont Blanc
Enjoying lunch on the precarious summit
...and enjoying the views of course
On the hike down, these 4 hooligans decided to climb this precarious rock....I decided to be the photographer.
The massive field of scree we had to hike up to summit...not necessarily the best place to find a foot hold.
This first picture is me enjoying a beautiful summer day at the market in Vevey. Here, I am standing next to the famous fork in Lake Geneva on the Vevey waterfront.
