August 8th was a precious day off from work. I took the opportunity to do a new Swiss ride. After driving just over 2 hours and parking in Ulrichen, Switzerland, I set out en velo to cross three passes, the Nufenenpass, St. Gotthard Pass and the Furkapass. The summit of Nufenenpass is a borderline between German-speaking Switzerland and Italian-speaking Switzerland. Atop the St. Gotthard Pass, Switzerland changes back into German-speaking.
These next few shots are from the second pass, the St. Gotthard Pass. It was my favorite pass of the day. It is well known in Switzerland because it is the lowest pass in the Alps at 2091 meters.
